[rebel-builders] Root Rib Rivets

Thanks for your kind comments and suggestion, Kirk. I ran this issue up the
flagpole here on the list a few months ago and got lots good advice. I
considered making the wing root fairings out of fiberglass, but thought that
1) to some extent, chafe is chafe, whatever the material, 2) I'm not that
comfortable yet with making large pieces of fiberglass, and 3) my impression
was that glass would probably be heavier, especially in the klutzy way I
would do it. I may be wrong on all except the last point, but perhaps will
think it through one more time.

Ron, I looked at the pictures of your window install and I have to say, you
do very fine work. I also read your comment about the dome rivets in the
root ribs and thought I'd bounce an idea off you. Why not just make the
fairing out of fiberglass. It'll lay over the rivet heads and you'd never
even know they were there. Quick, easy to do, and lightweight.
