Ron,
Before my wife became a shooter, hunter, and NRA instructor I could bring new gun into the house unnoticed. Not any more! You have to measure the pluses and minuses against each other. Personally, I'll take a shooter, pilot, motorcyclist wife anytime.
As a tip, maybe after she is throughly comfortable in the air you can have a "friend" suggest the benefits of at least a pilot pinch hitter course with all the salient reasons. Who knows where that might lead?
