[rebel-builders] Moose aileron travel; approach speeds

Yes, I flew it for quite some time with drooping ailerons. I've flown it
now for a lot of time without the drooping ailerons.

The Moose likes to cross the fence, IMHO, at roughly 60 to 65 mph. You get
much below 60 and it gets increasingly mushy. My plane stalls, power off,
somewhere in the high 40's. So why don't I bring it in slower yet? Because
one gets so far behind the power curve that a go-around at slower speeds
gets problematic at best. At 60 you're coming down fast, even with
half-flaps. Frankly, for wheel operations (maybe floats are different--I
have never flown or even taxied on floats), 60 is plenty slow allowing for
landings well under 1,000'--without drooping ailerons. The Moose is not a
Super Cub. Again, especially if you're loaded at all, if you're much below
60 over the fence you're fully committed. Much below 60 you have to give it
power to have enough elevator to flair at all.

Hey Ted.

Did you fly your Moose with both drooping ailerons and decoupled ailerons?

The Elite and Moose wings are very similar and I have thought about doing
this test.

Curious if you have before and after test results.

I should have added that I do NOT have the push-pull tube connected between
the flaps/aileron. So I get no aileron droop when I deploy flaps. I'm on
wheels all the time and want the extra aileron travel for better crosswind
performance.

Hi All,

What is the up and down travel on the ailerons? (or where in the manual

I find this info)

Where has every one been positioning the heated pitot tube?

Thanks
