Floor boards flexing

Hello All

I have my rudder pedals installed and the control cables rigged and when I
set in the seat and move the rudder pedals full travel, the plastic rudder
blocks rotate about 1/8" and cause an un-acceptable flexing of the floor
boards.

I am sure most have experienced this problem. I am considering reinforcing
the floor boards with some .032 x 5/8 sq. Al. tube, running from the
firewall back to the cabin carry through then rivet it to the two inboard 2
x 5 doublers and the floor boards. Will this be an adequate fix? Would
really appreciate suggestions are a proven solution.

Charlie,
I went through the "flexible flyer" question when our pedals went in and the seats tried. My concern was not normal flying but getting in & out, and particularly digging in my heels to shift around on the seat. The single sheet flexed and it seemed might dent / deform over time.

My fix was to add a 5/8" square tube frame with an .032 sheet on top. I made a custom set of rudder pedals and the fixing bolts go down through the 5/8" square tube so all is rigid. This was a weight trade off that I found acceptable.
