Howdy!
I just called Dennis at MAM to figure some things out about my flying
machine
to be. I was perhaps more confused afterwards and sent him a note with some
pics of my problem. I don't know if he'll get the JPEG attachments, so I
would
appreciate anyone's help here.
So I'm writing down a verbal description, then posting 3 JPEG attachments in
a
separate post so you won't have to download them if you don't want to.
In building Bulkhead F, I used two round bulkhead 2A's and riveted them
together so it spans 44" side to side on the outside. This corresponds to
fig.
62a of my 03/14/95 Rebel 280 manuel pg. 13-71
When I do this, the distance between the predrilled holes in the straight
part
of the flanges right next to the corner tabs is 31".
I already have fus 39 (bottom skin) layed out flat on the table. Each side
has
predrilled holes one inch apart. I align the predrilled hole in the end of
the straight part of the flange of bulkhead A over the first of these holes
in
the bottom skin.
Then I slide the other side of the bottom skin under the other side of
bulkhead A and align the two similar holes on the other side. This went
well.
Then I take Bulkhead F, reverse it with the flanges facing backwards, and
cleco through the predrilled hole of it's straight part of the flange (next
to
the corner), through the predrilled hole in the bottom skin onto the table.
But when I go to align the opposite ends of Bulkhead F and the bottom skin,
Bulkhead F's hole is 3/4" too short to reach the predrilled bottom skin
hole.
So, question 1) Why are bulkhead F's holes 3/4" to short when the outside
dimensions of the uprights are 44" and when bulkhead A aligned fine?
Question 2) After solving this puzzle, where do I locate bulkhead F on the
bottom skin? Seems like all one has to do is count how many 1" spaced
rivets
there are between bulkheads A and F.
Remember, confusion gives clarity of mind it's brilliant luster!
