If you are talking about a Die Spring gear you need to talk to Wayne G.

to beef up the mounting area so it can withstand forces of a spring gear. I
know, it happened to me. The square tubing cracked around one for the
mounting bolts. I did the modification and it works great. I have some
extra material as I had to buy a full length of it. I can sell you the
material or cut and machine it for you. It is time consuming.

Hi Russ,
I'm building 818R down here in OZ and am approaching the spring gear
part. I've been thinking about beef ups as it seems there have been some
problems. What material do you have? I've been supplied with some aluminium
angle to rivet to the FUS 5, is that what you have?I've also thought a
thicker wall FUS 5 would help,if available, possibly with another tube or
bar nested inside for a foot or so in from the ends. Was it the front FUS 5
that cracked in your plane?
Cheers Mike
