[rebel-builders] upper door latch

[moving this back to the right thread]

My lower latches are like Eric's Fogelin's, except with a little longer
Delrin "bolt". (See http://n254mr.com/node/1141)

I have not planned to do a sliding Delrin bolt design for the uppers. I was
hoping to do a pivoting lever design for the uppers, as shown in my ver. of
the door Ch. 23, dated 26/06/98, with the D-403 bent lever. I plan to locate
the upper latch/lever ~12" aft the forward door post -- addressing your
concern -- as per that ed. of the manual, with the thought I may add a
second, linked latch further aft later, as Roger Hoffman did (see second row
of Roger's photos at http://tincantimes.dcsol.com/default5.htm) -- but not
'till after it's flying!!!

Now that I've revisited Roger's photos, I can probably figure out the needed
thickness and width dimensions right from those. Cancel code 3 fire drill.
:-) Now if only I could figure out how to do an outside locking knob for
that pivot point, similar to what Ken did, only different... later!! :-)

Ron, I can't remember how you did your doors and main latches. But the top
ones are the same material as the main ones on the side.

However, don't install the top one in the centre of the window like I did,
because the fronts like to lift away at higher speeds. I had to install
velcros on the front to fix that. Best to install it closer to the front.

Ah, yes, pretty fancy, sorry, but can't help you with that.
