Thanks, Geert, for the tip on the Glastar defroster. Not sure if anyone around here is
building one, but will check it out.

4900 cruise RPM seems a little high, but the oiltemp or coolant temp do not
reflect an unusual strain on the engine. People that have disassembled their
engines after some considerable hours of running have not indicated any
problems whatsoever. Add this to the story that Subaru ran five cars round
and round a track with the throttles clamped to full RPM with no problems,
to sort of put aside any worries in that department. Finally the defroster
question: if you can find a Stoddard/Hamilton Glastar in building process
somewhere near you, go look at its defroster and/or the description of the
defroster/heater valve in their manual, absolutely ingenious. It looks a
little complicated, but it isn't, I made copies of those pages and promised
