[rebel-builders] Rotec Radial Vs. Lyc -- Dilemma

Yes, all good points, Jeff. I have thought of all of these. The rotec
weighs 270 and is rated at 150 hp...similar to the lyc; supposedly would
have more torque based on larger diam prop, eng design, and the redrive.
Parts would be an issue for sure. More research is needed. :)

Craig,
I had thought of the Rotec also. Beautiful engine!!! eck of a good price on them earlier this year. Seems that MAM had cooling issues or something with the one they built. But then again that was the 110 HP model. I am thinking that that Rebel went to Austrailia maybe.

Yes, all good points, Jeff.

I like the looks of the radial, but still prefer the Lyc for many other
reasons. But used to wonder if it was possible to make a radial type cowl,
similar to the Renegade, that would fit on the Rebel with a Lyc. Could the
Rotec Rebel cowl be adapted for a Lyc? Probably would have great cooling
with that bigger inlet...

I haven't heard of that one coming this far south Keith but there is
another, based in Darwin at least until recently, that is flying with a
Rotec. The builder/owner, who is also a native of Tasmania, visited me
here earlier in the year.

Of course, the Rotec came from Australia in the first place.

Bill 753R, Powranna, Tasmania.

For info, FAZC is on the RA Aus register and is up at Mullumbimby
Northern NSW.

John, Rebel 804 Down Under (south of Mullumbimby, but north of Powranna)
