Subject: [rebel-builders] Windshield for SR
Jeffery,
Thanks for the offer; I'll wait to see if it's a SR windshield. Was flying
back from GA a week or so ago, and saw what looked like a long bug stuck to
the windshield - in the right upper corner where it wraps around the wing
root. The "bug" started getting bigger and bigger, and I suddenly realized
it was a hairline crack that kept getting longer. By the time I got on the
ground, it was about 6" - 8" long. I've stop-drilled it and it hasn't
spread any more, but I'm not liking the looks or the position. This seems a
strange place to crack since it is not near any structure that could move,
actually this portion of the windshield floats. I have soft sealant around
all contact areas of the windshield (both sides) and I would hope this would
act as a cushion. Just one of aviations little mysteries.
Ted, if you need a windshield, I can wait (I'm not looking forward to
drilling out the rivets, reinstalling and repainting anyway.
