Jeffery,

Thanks for the offer; I'll wait to see if it's a SR windshield. Was flying
back from GA a week or so ago, and saw what looked like a long bug stuck to
the windshield - in the right upper corner where it wraps around the wing
root. The "bug" started getting bigger and bigger, and I suddenly realized
it was a hairline crack that kept getting longer. By the time I got on the
ground, it was about 6" - 8" long. I've stop-drilled it and it hasn't
spread any more, but I'm not liking the looks or the position. This seems a
strange place to crack since it is not near any structure that could move,
actually this portion of the windshield floats. I have soft sealant around
all contact areas of the windshield (both sides) and I would hope this would
act as a cushion. Just one of aviations little mysteries.

Ted, if you need a windshield, I can wait (I'm not looking forward to
drilling out the rivets, reinstalling and repainting anyway.

Charlie Starr

[rebel-builders] Windshield for SR

Posted: Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:41 pm

Since LP Aero manufactures all Murphy windshields, perhaps those in need
should coordinate directly with LP Aero for one large production run.

I understand that Murphy and LP Aero have a contract. There could be a
couple of ways to resolve this. Murphy could waive the contract and allow LP
Aero to do this one-time mass shipment (perhaps with help from Bob?).

The ugly route is to convince LP Aero that Murphy has violated the terms of
its contract which would allow LP Aero to work directly with builders.

[rebel-builders] Windshield for SR

Please guys !!! Enough already .......

Good grief - who's next, Lycoming !!!??? Alcoa/Alcan !!!???

LP does NOT sell RETAIL ! They ONLY deal with OEM's.
Murphy owns the molds for many of the parts that they sell,
including cowlings, extrusions, etc.

The good folks at LP are not happy being harrassed, but are too nice
to tell you..... Please leave them alone.

Response has been slow from the factory - a lot of the people
you dealt with are laid off. They are up to their @**'s in alligators !
They ARE shipping some backorders, but it's very difficult out there !
The only alternative is to close the doors - would you prefer that
to a slow response and long delivery times ???

Nobody is doing this just to make your life difficult !

There WAS a problem with the 'Shipping' emails at the factory -
NONE were read !! That is NOW fixed, so if you want a windshield,
please order directly from: MurTech@murphyair.com

You will get your windshield as soon as it can be made - remember,
LP is also suffering with this economy, so delivery will be a bit longer.

PS - please be prepared to pay when you order - everybody wants
to stay in business.

Sorry if I've offended anybody, but this was becoming a lynch mob !

If it becomes possible, I'm prepared to handle some SIMPLE
Parts Quotes/Orders from here - but the factory must approve that.

I think they will be able to look after any real orders themselves
for now. Please give them a chance once more ....

Thanks !

Bob,

I hear what you are saying, and I agree, closing their doors would be
terrible. However, if I understand correctly, you want me to be prepared to
pay a second time for a windscreen that was never delivered? And hope that
this time it actually comes? I do not think that I should be prepared to pay
for something that was already paid for when the kit was purchased. This may
not be the case with other kits, however, my windscreen was paid for in 1998
when the kit was purchased, and I plan to do my best to hold Murphy
accountable to that.

Thank you for your input and attention to our needs.

Thanks Kyle !

I was talking about NEW orders. Back orders are another issue,
and I know the factory IS trying to clear up backorders - some have
been shipped recently. It can be a bit more difficult for those who are
not the original buyers - it's hard to trace what went where ....

I believe the factory will come through on the traceable backorders,
just as soon as money & time allow ...

Wow, sounds like there's a lynching mob looking for blood.

FWIW....... When you purchase a "Used Kit" or "Second Hand" (sometimes 3rd,
4th and so on), you better be making sure you're getting the entire kit.
Whomever you purchased the kit from is responsible for making sure your
getting everything you've paid for (IE: sold as is). Over ten years or
later, you're looking to receive parts from a purchase, of that you weren't
the Original Purchaser....... I wish you Good Luck! So the term "Buyer Be
Ware", goes a long way when buying something used, whether it be a TV, Car
or Kit Airplane.

Pick your battles, no sense banging your head against a perfectly good wall.
Cheers,
Jeff

Thanks !

Since LP Aero manufactures all Murphy windshields, perhaps those in

I understand that Murphy and LP Aero have a contract. There could be a
couple of ways to resolve this. Murphy could waive the contract and
allow
LP Aero to do this one-time mass shipment (perhaps with help from
Bob?).
The ugly route is to convince LP Aero that Murphy has violated the
terms
of its contract which would allow LP Aero to work directly with
builders.

I am still trying to get murphy to make good on our windscreen for
019SR.
(SR3500)
I am not expecting much, so any help in getting one would be great.

[rebel-builders] Windshield for SR

I have all the documentation, original PO's and Bill of Sale, so I am hoping
that will be sufficient to back up my case. Thanks.

Pick your battles, no sense banging your head against a perfectly good
wall.
