[rebel-builders] Fuse #5 Dimensions

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:37 pm

It's 2" x 2" x 0.125" - 6061-T6 Richard. Hard to source though.. the
structural round corner. Square edge is easy to find.. but you want the
round cornered stuff. Tubes are just shy of 44" long. When you replace it be
sure to browse the archives to see how to put solid inserts in the tube
ends. It's the front tube that the bolt gets pulled down thru when the tire
stops going forward!

You could bolt on a set of Float attach brackets, that bolt in where the
spring gear saddle bolts go when you put floats on. They would more than
suffice for main gear leg attachment..but you'd still have to do a set of
rear drag brace fittings (and depending on how the builder did the double
bulkhead back there could make that work as well)... and the wishbone tubes
etc to switch to bungee gear.

Subject: [rebel-builders] Fuse #5 Dimensions

Hello Again Rebel Builders/Flyers:

I've just recently asked for some feedback on the Fuse 5 situation. I've
come to the conclusion that I'll need to replace my forward tube. I was
tempted, especially with Mr. O'Shea's input, to transition to the bungee
gear configuration but the tabs have already been cut off my Fuse 2
pieces -
and that would certainly mean more rivet removing and added time to the
rebuild. Plus, and I hate to admit this to you hard corps backwoods
flyers,
my excersions will be downright benign by comparison as I plan on landing
99.9% of the time on hard surface runways.

I'd like to go ahead and order a replacement tube from an aluminum source,
but there is no size/dimension remaining on my tube. Any of you current
flyers/builders out there recall what your Fuse 5 tubes dimensions are?

thanks again for the help,

Richard Swan
