the use of wedges and a good putty knife will work too.

Yah.. what he said!

Sharpen the edge of said putty knife so it cuts the proseal as it goes.
Another "trick" is a long piece of .025 or .032 with edge sharpened... and
enough left sticking out of the part that you can wrap it in tape for a
handle or good gloves and a hammer. Get the "cutter" started between the
skins.. brace the top part sticking out with that gloved hand and start
tapping with the hammer on the "cutter" just above the two skins.

put a puddy knife between the skin to remove them
