lower door latch Delrin detail

Post by Ron Shannon » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:33 pm

I have a piece of 1/2" square Delrin rod stock about two feet long,
currently labeled D-10, presumably for the lower door latch "slide bolts".
The manual (Ch. 23, p. 11) says to "get the two pieces of 1/2" x 1/2" Delrin
material (D-18)" -- presumably cut from my D-10 -- and insert door latch
springs into the slots. My Delrin rod stock doesn't have any slots in it and
there doesn't seem to be any other reference to preparing the Delrin
"sliding bolt" pieces, much less cutting slots in them. (There's not even a
reference to "D-10" in Ch. 23.)

1) Am I just looking at the wrong Delrin part?

2) Is there some other place in the manual where prep of the Delrin pieces
is detailed?

3) How long overall should the Delrin sliding bolt pieces be?

4) How long should the slots be and at what position along that length?
Presumably the slots should be shorter than the springs.

I could probably figure out what the dimensions should be eventually, but
thought it would be better (easier, faster) to ask first. :-)

Thanks.

Ron
