[rebel-builders] Hopefully inspiration to get the stragglers motivated.

Aircraft flys hands off in cruise with canoe on. My machine likes to turn
left slightly without it.. so the canoes drag makes it perfect! lol

Only issue I had was almost riding off the airplane leaving my own field for
the lake in May. I always take off from my place South bound because of the
trees on the North end and it's never an issue with even a 15K tailwind.
Well I learned PDQ that a tailwind is an issue with all the extra surface
area hanging out there !! Thankfully I'd cut down all the new growth off the
fence line at the far end of the field the day before... because I shot thru
there at 3 feet AGL and then rode the ribbon of air up over the forest..
then didn't climb an inch until I got it around into the wind! Lets just say
Leah ran from mid field to the south end of the field (1000') before I was
turned and back over the field. She thought she was gonna pull my ass out of
the carnage. (I left the canoe at the lake ! LOL)

Flight to the lake with full fuel, me and the canoe was with a 90*
quartering wind from the left.. so the wind was going under the fuselage and
"filling" the canoe. It had a slight shuttering sound flying ball in center
and I found if I put the ball centered on one of the centering lines instead
of between them it flew quietly.

Landing and take offs from the water this summer didn't seem to be any
different than without the canoe on. Out of the water in about the same
spot... no bad habits on approach or landing. I'm not doing anything
different.. ie I'm not carrying any extra speed on approach or anything. The
only thing it does is cut climb about 200 fpm and cruise is down about 8 to
10 knots.

So Wayne, anymore news or info on the handling with the weight and all
that drag on the one side, now that you have had more time with it? Any
things to watch out for, or big don't do's? Any dead spots or turbulence
on the tail?

Did some more hauling around with my blow-up canoe this summer, and I hate
it even more. It is not the most comfortable to sit in, but the worst is
inflating and deflating it. Plus when you step into it, your foot sinks
down another foot or so into the floor.

Nice pics, and looks like you're still living the good life...

Threw on a Prince prop that I picked up with another airplane I
bought.
Thought I'd try it out. Somewhat noisier than the Warp but it
did give me
some more performance. Still mystified how Lonnie comes up with
Pitch for
these things. Just before I left home I installed one that he
supplied for a
150HP Lyco on a customers airplane that was coarser pitched than
this one I
have that was running on a strong 160 HP H2AD. Beats me... but
it on my 150
HP the prop works pretty good. Could be a little finer to work
perfect but
it's good enough AFAIConcerned. Left my RPM #'s on the camp
fridge though so
I won't quote anything at this time. All I know for sure is it
climbs well
at about 400 to 500 fpm in the configuration noted below with my
buddy
along.....and yes with the canoe on the side and everything like
gear,
cooler bag etc adding up in the just shy of 2000lb area.
