fairleads for moose/SR cable runs

Post by Jason Beall » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:33 pm

Guys,

I drilled the holes last night to run my aileron cables up the door posts to the upper pulleys on my Super Rebel. I noted in one of the many pictures I have saved off the internet that another builder had plastic fairleads protecting the holes.

Did Murphy supply fairleads for these holes? I can't find them if they did.

I do have some cable supports that Murphy suppled but they won't work. They are for supporting cables in the tail on top of the various bulkheads and formers.

The only fairleads on Aircraft Spruces website are 3/4" and 1" long. Since the cable runs through at a slight angle I was thinking I might have to make some custom fairleads.

Or do you think they are even necessary?

I was thinking an alternative might be to fabricate a plastic support where the cable passes from the lower pulley (on the floor) into the door post and enlarge the holes inside to prevent any rubbing.

Ideas? Thoughts? Pictures?

Thanks,
-Jason
