[rebel-builders] Brake Lines

I'm with Drew.. if you are going to use the 1/4" Parker Parflex it's easier
to just run it from pedal cylinder to brake caliper (make sure the fus hole
is large enough that it will let the end fitting nut go thru it). Faster on
gear change overs to drain the reservoir and line thru the bleed screw on
the caliper... pull the line off the pedal cylinder and pull the entire line
out of the fuselage as the wheel gear is removed. Amphibs go on with their
own dedicated brake line. Makes change overs quicker and easier to bleed the
brakes.

Can't seem to come up with a 90 bulkhead fitting to use with the brass
nylaflow plastic lines.
Does anyone have any input for this?

Hi Dave I say keep it simple and just run the line through a rubber
grommet. Saves weight and eliminates potential leak sources. I've never
found any wear on my brake lines but they do get hard and need to be
replaced every few years. If you're planning on using the line that came
kit #009 I'd take a good look at it and consider using new stuff.

Another possibility...
I ran the line vertically through the square carry throughs and straight
down the gear leg inside the gear fairing. Kept it out of sunlight.

For 1/4" od tubing, truck air brake line fittings seem to also work fine
if you need another source of fittings. Acklands or Graingers carry them
among others.

Interesting solution Ken. I cut a 1" dowel in half then routed a groove on
the flat side. I glued it to the gear leg and covered with fabric then I
ran my line down through the routed slot.
