Seat questions

Yup, if I were doing my Rebel again, I would definitely pay more attention to seat cushion comfort. No problem with 1/2 or 1 hour trips, but have done a few longer trips with 2 and 3 hour legs, and that is a whole different story. I found myself constantly trying to raise my butt, shift it around a bit, to reduce the pain, and numbness which is the advanced stage. Also kind of takes away from the enjoyment of the scenery when your arse is hurting so badly.

If anyone was at Oshkosh 1995... you would know how my son and I
arrived in
mine! We stole the seat cushions off the patio furniture in the
back yard
and set them on the bar alum pans...since I hadn't had time to get
intoupholsery yet. While their we splurged and bought two 1" thick
x 18" square
pieces of Temprafoam to add to the cushions for the 7 1/2 hr ride
home (in
one shot I should add!) Didn't get out of the plane even for
customs at Gore
Bay. Come to think of it she told us to not even bother shutting
the engine
down, but it was too late I had just pulled the mixture! Flew this
way for a
good time afterwards as well and believe I finally had the seats
done in the
winter of 1997 giving up only two at a time so I could keep
flying!! ).

Spruce lists the Temperfoam as Confor foam. There are notes in the
archives about this but while it is not typical for me I actually
followed the manufacturer's recommendations of 1" of soft (pink) on top
of 2" of medium (blue) for those of us in cold climes. They recommended
using an inch of the firm material for the bottom layer in warm climes.
Bob's recommendation (and Bingelis's) of side wedges and a thigh wedge
along the forward edge sure made a nice seat. And Phil's idea of a Obus
Forme back support for the back rest is very nice. I use one of those in
my car all the time as well. For my height (5"-10") I didn't really have
the headroom for a thicker seat cushion as you don't sink very far into
this stuff.
