[rebel-builders] brake parts

Understood. In that regard, the Grove 65-203 package, which is the other
option for a Rebel, includes a single cylinder brake and medium-sized disc
pads. In effectiveness, it is probably more like the MAM brake. Grove said
it would be adequate for my 8.00-6.00 tires, but firmly recommended the
65-211 nonetheless, which has dual cylinders and larger pads. He also opined
the 65-211 would be mandatory if I ever went to larger tires. That's not
likely while I own the plane, but I'd be inclined to follow his
recommendation in any case, as he clearly knows his stuff. Four or five
different people have now confirmed to me their opinion their Grove
equipment has excellent design and quality.

Hopefully, a new wheel & brake setup will not be be required now, so I can
avoid the effort, expense, and (most important to me at the moment) time
that would be involved in such a wholesale change. Maybe later. To
paraphrase a frequent refrain from one of our '07 Ramble colleagues, "Did I
mention how eager I am to get flying?" :)

Ron,

There are considerations around the amount of braking available in these
aircraft. Murphy's original wheels and brakes tended to be of limited
stopping power. Adequate to be sure for stopping on the runway, but not
really capable of holding the aircraft for full static runup. There are
discussions in the archives on this. Some guys like to have all the
braking they can get, others like me who have gotten used to the milder
action of the original brakes appreciate the reduced capability for
nosing the aircraft over. As usual you mileage may vary.
