Compatible 540 series engines for SR

Hi all,

Has anyone seen a listing of the 540 series Lycoming
engines that are compatible with the Super Rebel? Or
does it not matter...they will all fit under the
bonnet?

Hi Jason !

I'm answering this from the web site, because I haven't had
any messages by email for 2 days !! Hope it gets out....

As far as I know, all 540's will fit. I have heard that
several Super builders are looking for the lower-powered version
that's used in the Piper Cherokee 6 (I think) - it's rated at
240 hp, because of lower compression. This apparently makes it
VERY reliable, AND able to burn auto fuel - an important economic
and convenience factor for float pilots ! :-)
