We missed you guys, but always better to be safe !!

FWIW - call Toronto weather, rather than London - a lot more
activity, and maybe a bit more accurate because of immediate PIREPS.

Glad to hear Bill is in good spirits - some encouraging news about
new treatments out of Calgary today (if they can do something fast enough).

I have seen droop tips on low wings ....

The NACA studies, and our own practical experience, show a very
real performance improvement with the Hoerner tips - abot 3-4 mph more
cruise, and 3-4 mph slower stall. I have flown droop tips, and they DO
seem to help low speed stability, and some claim they also help with
speeds....

You do see Hoerner tips on all the fast birds - like Mooneys.
One nice thing about Dave's new wing tips is that they will fit right
on to the Rebel, Elite, AND Super Rebel !

Glad the floats are progressing - are you using SikaFlex adhesive ??
How do you like it ??

Hi Bob,
What does a Hoerner tip look like? You mentioned them a couple times now
and I thought you were talking about some kind of droop tip but now I'm not
sure.

Joel I think those tips look like a wing tip has been sliced through at an
angle. I may have some pictures (but not of Rebels) If I do I'll scan one
into

Hi everybody !!

We had another great builders meeting today - a good crowd
of really enthusiastic Rebel builders !!! This was a pleasant
surprise, as we were in the middle of a BLIZZARD !!! Winds were
gusting over 80, blowing snow, and the power was off for the first
couple of hours - no coffee !!!! (and no lights or furnace !)

We'd just like to thank all those who fought their way here
to help other builders "Toward the Flight Line" ! At 12:30, Anna
said "It looks like the 2 of us are going to have to eat a LOT of
donuts !" :-) Brian Lawson had already arrived from Windsor,
but he was on a very strict diet !

We did eventually get power, and the vital coffee - and worked
our way through five dozen donuts and assorted bagels & cream cheese !!
Lest you think these meeting are just a big feed, we actually did
learn a lot about building & flying Rebels ....

Bill Tee, one of our resident MD-RA Inspectors, gave a talk
on "The 5 Most Common 'SNAGS' on Inspections" that was very informative,
and he also helped answer several queries from the floor - I'll try
to remember some of them, and post a summary in a day or 2.

We had some visitors - hope we helped with their aircraft
selection. I think Brian Lawson returned to Windsor with a few
answers - and perhaps more questions !!! We'll be here on line to
help Brian.... Sorry there were no fly-in Rebels - next time ! :-)

Jack Weibe reported that he was in the process of re-building
his tail section for the second time in about 700 hours - wear in the
elevator & rudder supports was the problem. His solution - drill out
the openings and press in the brass aileron bushings. They need to
be turned down a bit, and trimmed, but should reduce the wear in
this area considerably. We had over 1,000 hours on Rebel # 001,
and had only a bit of play on those bushings, but she was on wheels
for most of that time, so it was easy for me to put a couple of
drops of oil on the bushings every couple of flights - this is
definitely a worthwhile thing to do !! We also kept a small grease
gun handy and greased the tailwheel vertical post and the tailwheel
bearings at least monthly - made for much easier ground handling,
especially with the Murphy tailwheel....

Many good questions and answers from the crowd - those of
you with better memories please jump in here with anything you think
might be useful to the rest of the list !! :-) :-)

I'll get to work on that snag summary ....
