error in manual ??

Post by Mike Jones » Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:59 pm

Hi All

I have manual from 29/06/98 and am working on controls (ch 20) and have
found the following item.

page 16 of chapter 20 shows fig 20.5.5 and says to drill three holes in
control arm cc-76, from left to right 1/4, 1/4, 3/8. however the 3/8 hole is
supposed to be for mixer horn cc48-2 (with bearing) (see pg 36 fig 20.9.1).
however the bearing holds an an5 bolt which is to small for the 3/8 hole
(an6)

is the manual wrong or is it just me, perhaps the 3/8 and 1/4 holes need to
be change, any suggestions ?

to fix this problem I drilled an ai-26 bearing out to an6 and inserted into
the 3/8 hole, can the clevis fork and mixer horn be reversed ??

Mike

You're not saying you drilled a hole before checking are you....
Sounds like an error in the manual to me. Mine is a AN-4 bolt through
the mixer as yours should be. Newer kits use a AN-5 I believe due to the
larger bellcrank bearing. Lots of ways to insert a bushing (especially
if it is going to be bolted together solidly under the mixer as you seem
to be suggesting) but I wouldn't think you would need to drill out the
AIL-26 at all unless you bought newer parts.

Yes the clevis fork and the mixer mount ARE reversed in the newer
manual. THink it is mostly to keep the vertical push tubes clear of the
door opening but it also gives slightly increased leverage and movement
of the flap handle.
I did mine with the mixer in the middle hole, aft of the clevis.
