Hi all
I have a spring gear Rebel and I am currently getting ready to install the
.063 reinforcing plates (on the inside) before working forward of the cage.
It looks like I should also fit the Control Torque Tube at this time as the
bearing base as are riveted to the carrythroughs also. I could just leave
this area undrilled and install later if there is a reason to put it off???
Also for you spring gear fans, I bought wider 6061T6 .063 so I would pickup
the outboard bolts. The .063 used on the inside of the cabin that came with
my kit ( SG-8 and SG-14) was only 35.5 inches wide.

Rebel Control Torque Tube
Jim, before you get too much further you may want to see what the factory
"spring gear reinforcement" thing is all about that can't be opened on the
MAM website!
As for your control column, it would be useful to put it together and place
it so you know where the rivet holes will go for the bearing mounts, so they
don't interfere with you rivet pattern for the plates!

Rebel Control Torque Tube
Jim,
This is a very busy area and you will have to do some planning here. I
bolted (c'sunk # 8 AN screws) the control tube bearing bases to some 1/8 thick
alum plates (about 3 1/2 x 6 3/4) these plates are then bolted to the structure
via nutplates mounted in the floor. This allowed me to remove the control
column for adjustments and allowed clear access when I had to work under the
panel. The centerline of my left side control stick is located 9 5/8 from the
inside left side of the cabin.
Good luck,
Rick D.
