Drilling the SR tailspring

Post by Mike Kimball » Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:37 pm

The SR tailspring is comprised of three steel tubes, one inside the other.
Somehow I have to drill some holes through this! I have a small bench drill
and hand drills and no bench drill vises or anything fancy. I know the dang
drill will bind at each new tube it encounters. Any suggestions?

Also, what's the secret to drilling large holes through the SS firewall??!!!
I've used very sharp bits, tried slow feed, fast feed, slow speed, fast
speed but the dang bit keeps grabbing and damaging the hole!
