Drilling lower front corner wraps

Post by Joel Jacobs » Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:22 pm

Hi,
I'm ready to rivet up my door sills, cabin area lower bulkheads etc. and I'm
looking at fus-26 I believe - the flat panel under the doors. It has a
rivet line punched into it along the door post. I have only drilled the top
and bottom holes through the post. Reading ahead in the manual I guess a
tapered corner wrap will be installed to pick up this same rivet line. It
says "install the lower corner wrap like you did the others". Well, all the
others are back drilled from the inside. This can not be done at the door
post. How will I get the holes to align? I know "slip the corner wrap
under fus-26 and drill it" might be suggested but the manual is telling me
to rivet fus-26 now up to about seven rivets from the door post. The strut
attach bracket will prevent fus-26 from being pulled out enough to get
anything under it. Should I hold off riveting fus-26 for now?

Thanks!

Joel Jacobs

Hi Joel
Not to sound flippant but you could also upgrade fus-26. I went up to
0.025" and locally the guys seem to be recommending 0.032 now.
