Thanks everyone for the in put so far. Why so much fuel?
I'll be basing my M14P SR south of Calgary where the fuel is very cheap
and flying to Northern Saskatchewan where the fuel is very expensive.
We're talking about 50 cents plus US per gal or 7.50 an hour. That alone
would cover my hourly oil cost. Then there is the remoteness and looking
for the next uplift. We're talking north of 55 degrees and believe me
there's not much up there besides fish and game. Regarding the complex
system, before I got on the 777, which is very boring to fly, I was on
the scarebus A310. Now that's a complex system. Left outer, Left inner,
center, right inner, right outer and then the 5.0T trim tank in the
stab. So four valves seems simple. I would plan normal operations on the
mains and only use the outers occasionally. At least I've decided on
only 2 bays per side due to possible lateral imbalance, thanks Al. I've
got the wing apart now so there's no better time. Using the 5th and 6th
bays would be a further problem as I'd need to reskin the full six bays.
It'd be easier to find the right size of 'scrap' for the smaller tip
areas. So far it still looks better in the outers but please keep the
comments comming, thanks Wayne. Brian commented that Darryl M said fuel
in the tips would give it better balance and wing loading in flight.
Still awaiting a final reply from Brian.
