Well ...... that's a challenge, alright !!
I WAS 'down east' a couple of years ago - on 'the rock' !! St. John's,
Gander, Musgrave Harbour ... Test flew a new Rebel with a Subaru Legacy
for a customer - had a great time (except for the FOG !!!)
Seriously, it might be worthwhile for a bunch of you to rent a van,
take a day, and drive over to see the completed Rebel(s) - we have all
learned several tricks from each visit. As I mentioned, we have had
builders drive in from Ottawa, 5 hours EACH WAY, for the odd meeting...
The Rebel Ramble fly 'n camp trips are already booked for 1999
(to Winnipeg), and 2000 (out to the West Coast, and maybe Alaska), but
maybe we can come east in 2001 :-) Of course, maybe you'll be finished
& flying with us to B.C. in 2000 !!
This is not a complaint, just a little background ...
Much as I'd like to create new sales 'down east' and in Quebec,
I only get paid IF you order FROM ME - this means that all trips & shows
come out of my own pocket ! Many times, I fly out somewhere, do demo
flights for several days, and come home. Next year, the guy I flew, or
his neighbour, calls the factory & orders, not even mentioning me. While
I have sold a couple down your way, most folks just call the factory
& order .....
I have been VERY busy in my 'Real Life' job of computer systems
consultant, what with 'Year 2000' and all, so have been raking in the
money to pay off bills from the 1996 Rebel Rambles, when I was away
for 5 weeks on the first one, and 3 weeks on the second !! Still have
about $10,000 to go !! It was a GREAT trip - good times, nice people,
some frustrations - but I had NO income while travelling, and NO clients
left by the time I got back :-( Soooooo - haven't done as much
travelling & promotion as I'd like this year - but next year should be
better !! And we're only going to be away ONE week on the trip to
Winterpeg. (Of course, there's also Sun 'n Fun, Oshkosh, St. Thomas,
Brampton, Toronto Airshow ..... )
Anyway, at least ONE airplane from Rebel Ramble 1997 made it to
Nova Scotia - a Cessna 140, a little off the original planned route !!
Hang in there, keep building - it IS worth it !! And we'll try
to help as much as we can from here ....

Maybe the answer would be to form Rebel Builders groups in any
area where there are more than 2 or 3 Rebels - this could still be a
great benefit. We also do Builder Visits (just had one last weekend),
Well then Bob, I challenge you (and all the other happy owners of finished
Rebels) to come EAST for a change! There are a few of us down here working
away on our Rebels/Elites. Unfortunately for us in Nova Scotia, the
nearest finished Rebel can still be hours away (I won't even mentioned the
ones in Ontario...) Most builders in NS seem not to have enough building
hours in a week (including Dave and I, Elite 583), and a little inspiration
would go a long way. So there Bob, if you want to create more sales out of
"down East", come provoke us into finishing our Rebels!
Francine, Fall River, NS.
PS. And I'll pay for the donuts...
