Well I started the destruction of my completed wings.
The rear spar mod went well and is ready for reassembly.
No surprises.
On the wing strut fittings, the large fwd access area need not be as
large as shown.
I only cut away the inboard side leaving the access hole perimeter
intact. Will make reassemble quicker with no greater difficulty during
the mod.
I was able to get away with using a fly cutter on all cutouts of the
skin. This included the new fuel tank access holes and radiuses in the
struct attach area cut outs. After carefully marking and drilling out
the pilot hole I put pressure on the fly cutter such that it only cut
through on the side of the circle that required the opening. (Be careful
and don't forget to breath) I then used hand or pneumatic shears to join
the openings. Went very quick.
You'll also need a 9/16", 5/8" and #21 drill bit. The lower hole for the
strut fitting through the channel was tricky.
I was finally able to get a bit square to the surface by using a long
9/16" bit that I extended further to about 14" as the stringer
interferes with the drill at 90 degrees. A stubby 9/16" may work as well
but would be harder to ensure drilling at 90 degrees. I used a unibit to
upsize the original hole so the regular bit would start clean and not
chatter. The bolts are increased from AN-6 to AN-9.
Haven't figured out exactly where the W-719 large aluminum washers go as
the instructions are not clear here. Awaiting a reply from MAM.
Now to put it all back together and start on the fwd spar attachment.

How is everything over there Monty? I was a little concerned last night when
messages to you started getting returned. Is the political climate getting to
hot for you yet?
