Good morning!
Can anyone confirm that the optimum location of the fuel outlet fitting for
a SuperRebel is 17 inches aft of the main spar? It seems as though I read,
or heard, or perhaps dreamed that the "optimum" location has been changed at
least once.

That is what Murphy told me to do back in July.
The reason is that this is to compensate for a
low fuel condition in a descent.

Why not two, one fore and one aft? I know of at least one SR this way and I
think I plan on doing the same with a boost pump.

The original location of the fuel outlet was at the rear of the root rib.
MAM moved the location only once that I know of to a point about two thirds
back on the root rib. 17 inches sounds about right, but I don't have the
manual in front of me right now with the change. Apparently, there were
some fuel starvation problems while in a steep descent with low fuel when
the outlets were at the back.

I considered one fore and one aft as I was originally planning to copy
Cessna's design that has one fuel line routed forward of each door and one
routed aft of each door, meeting up in the floor on each side. But, if you
plan to have only one line going to two outlets you must do something to
prevent an outlet from being exposed during climb or descent in a low fuel
condition. This will allow air to be drawn into the lines (or so I've been
warned). I decided on the center position after being told by MAM that it
was not acceptable to route a fuel line down the forward posts due to the
size hole required in the forward post channels.

After 13 hours of flight this system is still
working. With the plane sitting on its tail
wheel I can draw down to the last 1/2 gallon in
each tank.
