I would sure appreciate some advice on whether I
should install extended fuel tanks on the Elite
wings I am about to commence. I would like to
install an O-320, which I am advised will be fine
for an amphib-equipped Elite. I hope so, for I
would like to avoid the expense of an O-360.
Apart from endurance considerations, is there
anything else I should be thinking about, pro or
con?
Also, even though I live in the Land of
Enchantment, I can find no Rebel or Elite to
inspect. I have a glove box from Van's that
needs a space 7 3/8" wide, 4 3/4" high, and 12"
deep. I am wondering if there is enough clearance
behind the right section of the panel to
accomodate this. If anyone can measure theirs, I
surely would appreciate it!

Extended fuel tanks
Extended fuel tanks
Jeffrey My rebel with an 0-290 has over 6 hrs. endurance with the standard
tanks if I ever need more fuel than that I'll carry a couple of jerry cans.
With the extended tanks you will end up with a greater empty weight and a
lot more unusable fuel.
I'm afraid that your glove box won't fit unless you can shorten it a bit.
I have a Val radio thats 11 1/2" deep if I recall and I had to instal it
right at the bottom of my panel because of the slope of the firewall.
