Shrinker Stretcher worth anything?

Post by Mike Kimball » Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:02 pm

I have been trying to use my recently purchased shrinker/stretcher to form
pieces like the corner wraps between the cabin and tailcone and have
practiced on a few scrap pieces as well. Unless I am doing something wrong
I can't get the tool to do anything to large pieces at all. It only seems
to work on pieces that have a flange, like a piece of channel or angle. If
this is it's only use I am going to try and return it because it serves no
purpose.

Does anyone have any hints as to how to get the sill to corner wrap overlap
to match up. I tried just bending the sill in a bit with a pair of pliers
and that actually worked a little, but the sill is showing signs of getting
a wrinkle if I keep bending this way. It's not too bad right now, but it
definitely will need something to fill and smooth the transition from the
sill to the corner wrap. I was thinking I might use proseal, but it would
be better if I could use something that could be sanded like SuperFill,
Dynalite, or Morton's Eliminator Filler. Anybody ever use any of these
products?
