Subject: Re: Cabin roof & skylights
Hi Wray !
The skylight info has changed a bit over the years. The doublers
are now available from MAM, and are pretty pieces with a joggle all
around. This is a MUCH better way to fasten than the old "rivet through
the Lexan" - the Lexan panels are glued in with a flexible adhesive
(Bostick 1100 ??), and the doublers are rivetted in place.
1/8" Lexan should do the trick - there is no problem with
Lexan in flat sheets, it only crazes if bent. Lexan is stronger than
Plexi, and MUCH easier to work, cut & fit. Laird Plastics have it
in various tints ... (You <could> use 1/16" .... )
I would not install the skylights directly behind the seats -
they just sunburn your neck. The front ovals (through the windshield),
the top set, and the rearmost set, are all useful.

Ken the blurb I have on skylights doesn't actually give the dimensions. It
actual holelocation of the doublers=A0 ...is this a kit from Murphy? Do you know the

Perhaps this has all been discussed and is in the archives?

Yes cut the skylights before rivetting and note the aft ones are NOT
symmetrical due to the aileron linkage.
I put all 8 in but I am going to blank the two that are in the third row
back from the front. Now that I've positioned the seats I realize that
they will just annoy me with the sun coming through them and won't
really add much visibility.
