Way to exciting.... So how do you dynamically balance these control
surfaces?

Thomas Thomas (Moose) did vibration analysis on his h-stab using
sophisticated telemetry equipment. Came up with struts on his Moose. I
don't have his same tail design so I attached mine in a slightly different
fashion. The h-stab struts are not under tension nor compression. They

there simply to dampen any vibration and change the natural
harmonic/resonant frequency of the h-stab.

Yes, that video (link in last email) is telling--doesn't matter what speed
if I understand anything at this point. I'm adding rudder weight and
rebalancing both rudder and elevator during reassembly.

Thank you for your note David. I'll post more information if/when I learn
new facts.

Those are a couple of eye opening photos! Really glad to hear you
arrived in one piece.

Looking at the photos I see a strut to the stabilizer, I was under the
impression that the Elite (our project) and the SR/Moose had the same
stabilizer layout, cantilever without braces, is the Moose modified from
the SR? I don't recall seeing braces on the MAM SRs I saw in Chilliwack.

I've looked at the Elite rudder and had the same skepticism about the
lack of balance weight. I'm not sure I buy the argument that the A/C is
too slow for balance considering our C-152 is balanced....

I'm looking forward to hearing more about the outcome of this since the
more I see of SR/Moose experience building up the more attention I pay
to the similar design elements in the Elite. Already we have the same
elevator and if I recall aileron hinge mount issues turning up.

Thanks for sharing and good luck with the return to service process.
