You'll note that not many of them offer Canadian coverage. About the only
one that does is ForeFlight, which has US VFR sectionals plus Canadian IFR
enroutes and IAPs. Fltplan.com also has Canadian charts, but its in-flight
capabilities are very limited.

Bad Elf is OK, but I use the Dual XGPS150, since it works over Bluetooth.
Jep is too expensive here in Canada. Foreflight uses government data - FAA
and NavCanada.

I've seen Canadian VFR sectionals on an ipad and read on their website
that they are available for I think $79./yr Garry. These became
available in August. (Unless I've confused Foreflight with someone else.)

Also of interest to me is the ifly700 gps that should have the rest of
Canada quite soon (only had East of Thunder Bay last time I looked).
They say they also will soon have free ADSB weather for the areas in
Canada that have ADSB. That really intrigues me.

I have a foreflight subscription and just looked up their Canadian FAQ doc.
They do not have VNC coverage but say that are working on it. IFR is $150/yr
which is nearly twice the cost of the American subscription. I suspect we
all know why that is so.

Just a note on the harddrive not working at altitude, its because the reader
thingy rides on a layer of air and as the air thins it can make direct
contact with the disc and destroy it and all the info on it. This damage is
permanent and unrecoverable if it goes on long enough as I understand it.Ray
