You will find that the consensus here is to leave the firewall where it
is which I might agree with if it is already installed...

Fundamentally I agree with Daryl Murphy though. My soob weighs about the
same as an 0-320 and I'm very glad I moved the firewall back. Lots of
discussion in the archives. It is more work than it might appear.
Slightly less visibility as it moves the pedals and seats back as well.
However on wheels I still find it a challenge to get the tail down on 3
point landings. On amphibs (which moves the cg farther forward) I find
the nose tends to dig in after touchdown when landing without a
headwind. So I also agree with those who suggest shortening all the
float struts and spreader bars from what the manual says. Prop spray has
never been an issue for me.

If you neglect minor structural advantages though, moving the battery to
the tail will move the cg farther than moving the firewall back!!!

My batteries are unusually small and light but they are on the backside
of the firewall where they theoretically reduce ground looping
tendencies compared to aft mounting. EVERYTHING is a compromise of
something.
