Sure, but bring lots of money for beer...
As it happens, the big float fly-in at Nimpo Lake is every July here, the
weekend after Arlington. I sometimes have an empty co-pilot seat (as do
others here), so if someone wants to share expenses... We usually have
several Murphy planes there every year, incl Rebels, Elites and Moose. There
is also a nice dirt strip right at the event location, so the wheel guys can
come too.

Now there is a plan! Or maybe, Ted and I can fly up there and fly with you
guys to get our float fix? :)

Like I keep saying to Ted, just head north, and within a day flying, you can
be in water heaven. You don't have to do all your flying at home. The Moose
is just too good a floatplane to spend all its time on wheels.
Maybe you and Ted should get together and share a set of amphibs... Ted can
break them in for you while you're still building, and have them all ready
to go for you when you're done...

I read that too, loved it, but I'm going to keep wheels on my Moose when I
finish it - since there are no success stories of float or ski operations in
Southern Arizona.

I just finished "Success On The Step: Flying With Kenmore Air." Great book.
I see that they landed Beavers on snow (glaciers).
Since there is no where I can legally land a float plane in Colorado, maybe
I'll just use floats in the winter here in place of skis...

Yeah, still haven't replaced my cracked windshield. Drilled stops still
doing their job. I have a spare windshield in my hangar, which I will
install one of these years.
I am trying my best to get Ted converted over to floats with his Moose. It's
just not right, having an M14P Moose, only on wheels.
Had a nice day flying here on the coast today. Flew into Quarry Lake near
Powel River. Not exactly an alpine lake (they're still all frozen here), but
a nice spot hidden away accessible only by floatplane.

Subject: [rebel-builders] Interesting Moose mods
I uploaded two pictures to area 124--S/M Modifications.
1. Though the "FwdDoubler" picture is taken on a Rebel, the concept of
tying
in the engine mount, witches hat, door post and related skins with this
type
of triangular doubler seems to have merit for consideration on a Moose.
The second picture is a modification of the belly strap, FUS-707. This
modification extends the strap up and both fwd/rear to pick up additional
structure. The most interesting item here, I believe, is the extended
strap
picks up the drag link brace as well.
