Tapered Corner Panels/fus-10?

Post by Jims170A » Fri Feb 17, 2012 8:35 pm

Hi All
I am getting ready to install the four tapered corner wraps on the fuselage
and was wondering how the rest of you installed them?
1: Installed "as is" (as per the manual).

2: used a steel bar, baseball bat, ect "to hammer the edge down for a
perfect fit" (as per the manual)

3: used a shinker-stretcher to form the back edge.

I was going to borrow a stretcher to help fit the panel (fus-10) but I am not
sure if I am making to big of a deal out of this. It seems like the .020
fus-10 might just form OK as is?
Thanks Jim LePard

Tapered Corner Panels/fus-10?

Post by Bob Patterson » Fri Feb 17, 2012 8:35 pm

Hi Jim !

Are these the FRONT FUS-10's, or the ones at the rear of the
cabin ?? If they are the front ones - DON'T install them !! These
should be replaced with the FUS-70's (.025), or the newer FUS- (534???)
of .032 thickness.

If they are the rear ones, the shrinker-stretcher will definitely
make a nicer job, but there are lots of them out there that were hammered
(rubber mallet over a sandbag), and they don't look bad !! Don't sweat
it too much !
