Ken,
I'm thinking my gauge is stuck or reading wrong. Because when I crack a line when it is reading 300Lbs there is nothing like that coming out of the line.

If you have the Murphy hand pump there is no possible way a normal man
can be pumping out anywhere near 400 psi... I have to bounce on the
handle with most of my weight to get 200.
While removed you might check that the slots for the nylon rollers on
the those gear are wide enough. Mine had burrs extending full length on
the edge that had to be filed off or the rollers would not slide properly.
Other than that maybe re read the previous thread as I have nothing new
to add other than what has already been discussed. Good luck.

My gear cycles at less than 20 lbs. and when I get to the stops I pump to
100lbs. max. but usually just around 50 lbs to be sure of positive
pressure. When I install my floats I pressure test the system to around
250psi both up and down I figure if it doesn't leak at that pressure I
should be safe operating in the range I use. It takes 13 or 14 full strokes
to cycle the gear. It sounds like you have a problem with your pressure
guage Andrew it should go to zero when you switch from up to down and when
you disconnect a line. Don't confuse pressure with volume if you have a
static system with no air in it all the pressure would be relieved as soon
as you loosened a fitting a couple turns.
