push - pull rods / witness marking

Post by Ralph Baker » Fri Feb 17, 2012 8:34 pm

Aircraft Spruce is one source for a material called Torque Seal that is
usually orange colored. It is painted at any joint or threaded connection
at final torqing and if the fastener or joint moves the Torque Seal
fractures. If applied correctly it can alert you that motion has occurred
and a retightening is in order. It will of course, not alert to relative
motion between the fastened parts (not affecting the fastener) so is only
part of an inspection.
