List server updates

I haven't updated the software on the list server in several months. but as
there have been a number of updates I decided it was time to sit down and do
so. The update seemed to go smoothly enough, but when it was all done I
couldn't log into the archive site anymore! I did some fiddling around with
things and got it working again. but you'll notice that the login
page/prompt is different than it was. This is a work around for now, and
hopefully I'll get it back to normal soon. Everything should still work
just fine, and nothing has been lost. it's just the cookie authentication
mode that I had been using isn't working right now.
