[rebel-builders] Float Attach Install

Post by Ken » Sun Feb 19, 2012 6:03 pm

Hi Roland
Search for Wayne's posts on the attach brackets. He recommends bolting
some reinforcements inside the bulkhead such that they cover the cutout
in the bulkhead above the attach brackets. This is to avoid eventual
skin wrinkling at the cutout.

I am about to install my rear float attach brackets. I noticed the pics on
the site (modifications) showing AN bolts used instead of the rivets as
indicated on the plans. Also it looks like there is a extra doubler added to
the bulkhead as well, but I cant be sure. Can anyone tell me what the best
install method is here? I believe Wayne posted the original pics in the mods
section.

[rebel-builders] Float Attach Install

Roland.. yes that is probably my picture and how I do the rear float attach
fittings. Bolts sandwich it all together nicely and make any future repairs
just that much easier. The doublers are .063 aluminum and give strength to
the bulkheads.... that like to compress/buckle at the 1/2 circle cutouts
over time.... after some high wave/not so pretty landing pounding.

Thanks Wayne,

Just what I thought. I will also put an extra doubler in and bolt them.
Great to get this info as I build, so I don't have to go back later.
Hopefully I will have a very up to date Rebel when done.
