Fastest way...MAKE ONE! Or just make a doubler and call it a
reinforcement modification, then when we all look at your finished plane we
will wonder what we missed and feel obligated to make one also!

Hi Guys,

Having mostly finished the elevator on my moose QB, I decided to check out
how it would mate up to the stabilizer. I built a frame from which I could
suspend the stabilizer and attached elevator to the stabilizer.

It turned out that when I aligned (made flush) one of the elevator tips to
the stabilizer, the other elevator tip was out of flush by a full 1/2" at
the forward end and about 1/8" at the aft end or hinge point area. I posted
a picture in section 101.

After several minutes of noodling and diddling with my 4 dollar Home Depot
laser level, I found the problem. The stabilizer end rib and reinforcement
bracket were installed on one end about 1/8" from where they should have
been.

So..... I figure I have two options. 1) Fix or 2) ignore.

If I ignore, I wonder whether flight characteristics will be affected and
whether structural pieces will be affected over the near term or short
term. (Plus it looks, well...just plain goofy.)

If I fix, I'm thinking I'll want another end bracket from MAM since the new
holes in the bracket will be a only about 1/8" away from the old holes.
What's the fastest way of getting a stabilizer hinge/doubler these days?

I welcome any and all suggestions and comments.
