Hi again, Ken K. you too should have gotten your pictures. At the risk of
boring the non-Subaru folks, that red material you see in area behind the
radiator, that is not rust! It is a sealant for the split back there and to
once again make sure that every lousy molecule of intake air is forced
through the radiator. It now truly is an airtight box. The reason that lower
lip is rounded is to avoid any turbulence being created at the intake end of
the box. I emphasize once more that should be your goal, undisturbed air and
all the air going through that fancy radiator. That somewhat sloped scoop at
the back underneath, now serves to suck out the air you are feeding it from
above. When I first heard all this in theory, I rejected it as "it can't be
that critical". It is, it is! This after nine months of experimenting
around. You do this correctly and you will never see anything higher than
173 degrees on your coolant temp gauge ever again. Regards, Geert Frank
