[rebel-builders] Moose/SR tailwheel

Post by Wayne G. O'Shea » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:41 pm

I have a Scott 3400 and an SR tailwheel under the bench. I'll have a look
tomorrow night.... after I'm done Muskie fishing for the day..

Guys,

Does anyone know if any other tailwheels are compatible with my Murphy SR?

In other words, are the two-bolt attach points on the Murphy produced
tailwheel the same spacing as, say, a Cessna 180-185 tailwheel

Thanks, -Jason

Part of the answer is in whether you have the hollow tube stinger with an
outside diameter of 1.0" or the newer solid stinger (more common to Cessna
for instance) that is 1.0625" in diameter (1 1/16").

[rebel-builders] Moose/SR tailwheel

Jason... the SR tailwheel yoke I have in the shop is predrilled with a 1.25"
c/c on the two mounting bolts. The Scott 3400 tailwheel I have under the
table is the same! So order up one of those bushwheel tailwheels from Wup
and have at 'er !

Like has been cautioned though.. check your diameters. The AD modified 3400
tailwheel and stinger on a 185 is 1 1/8" diameter. The old ones were 1"
(like I have under the bench).

Jeff Micheal

[rebel-builders] Moose/SR tailwheel

Post by Jeff Micheal » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:41 pm

Wayne / Jason,

The tail wheel swivel (yoke) that you have Wayne w/ 1.25" c/c sounds like
its for the Elite and/or the earlier SR2500. If I recall correctly the tail
wheel swivel for the SR3500/Yukon has a mounting spacing (two bolts to
stinger) of about 2" and designed heavier.

Like always, check parts to see if any changes or updates have been done
over the years.

Cheers,
Jeff
