Spring Gear vs. Bungee (or Wayne's Die spring)

Post by Keith Leitch » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:37 pm

Okay guys.....I know this is a little off subject....but is the Spring Gear really that bad? In the year 2020 when I get back to working on Rebel I had planned on installing the Spring Gear....only because that is what I ordered when I purchased the kit. I personally think the Rebel with the Spring Gear and speed cowl make the Rebel a much nicer looking plane.
I think this has been rehashed before but can someone list the pros and cons of each style of gear?
I have Murphy's 1800 Amphibs and figured they would be on the plane most of the time but now that I have found out I can not lenghthen my strip long enough to safetly operate while on Amphibs, I may have to formulate other plans.
Thanks,
Keith R661
