[rebel-builders] Moose flap system ?

Post by Ted Waltman » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:36 pm

Well, after a lot of head scratching, I can see how you think the flaps will
not move per your comment below. I'm doing this all from (an old) memory,
as I now have an electric flap system in my Moose (no more cables). Also,
because I fly 100% of the time on wheels, I took off my CC-149 arm. But...

Seems to me that if the CC-149 rear attach point were on the front of the
(flap) tube-ear, then you would be right--the flaps would not move. But,
since the attach point is on the rear of the (flap) tube-ear, when you
activate the flaps the tube-ear attach point in effect travels in a downward
arc, thereby increasing the effective distance between the slider plate (at
the front of the CC-149) and the (rear point of the CC-149) flap-tube-ear,
which in turn moves the slider plate further aft.

I can measure the length of my CC-149 (it's on the shelf, but I can measure
it for you), if that would help.

You do not need to pull the slider plate aft to install the CC-149.

Ted

Good day all, I'm having trouble with the final install of the CC-149( the
centre arm to the control tube). This may take a few attempts to explain,
so I'll start.

I have the slider plate, horn stop and the compression spring installed.
Chapter 12. The slider plate is tight against the horn stop because the
spring is installed. When I look to install the CC-149 (the centre arm to
the flap control tube) it looks to me as if the flaps will not move because
the horn stop is preventing the forward movement of the slider plate.

Do I need to pull the slider plate back toward the aft in order to the
install the CC-149 ( centre arm) ? If so then this to me means the flaps
must be in the "full flap position".

Thanks
Kelly Moose

Thanks Ted ,I'm more than likely missing something simple. I will be working on it tomorrow and let you know if my brain all of a sudden starts to work.
