There should be discussion and details in the archives within the last 3
years Craig. It is a DIY project first done by Fish. Some guys report
that the plastic washers give little movement so springs seem like a
better idea to some of us. More movement means more wear on the moving
parts but that seems like an acceptable trade to me especially if
operating on grass or rough surfaces. The thick aluminum washers at each
end of the springs need a little machining in a lathe to keep the
springs centered and of course you'd need to purchase the springs.
Spring prices vary from $4. ea to $25. ea from what I've heard.

OTOH there are lots of aircraft using rubber/plastic doughnuts
successfully for suspension.
