Bob, Very Interesting! Thanks for digging up that link regarding the "tuned exhaust with silencers".
Much Appreciated, Cris #719

Hi Cris !

A bit late on this one .... Based on other's problems, be sure
that you support the muffler by BOTH ends, to the bottom of
the fuselage. Also, keep it above and well clear of the bungees.
By supporting both ends, you will limit the strain on the
exhaust pipe in front of it - it should have a ball joint, and
slip joints higher up, to help with expansion and vibration.

Years ago, a Rebel had the front pipe before the belly muffler
crack off and burn the bungees off, just on landing at Oshkosh !
Fortunately, not too much damage ... but he did need a prop and wing tip ...

If you have a LOT of extra cash, these tuned, stainless exhaust systems
are really beautiful, and seem to work well :

A bit too much for me, but nice ! :-)

Has anyone had any experience installing an exhaust muffler after the
pipes exit out of the cowling? I plan on using the crossover exhaust
system with two small muffs inside the cowl, but would like a secondary
muffler that actually reduces sound levels significantly. I realize this
would create more drag, but it might be worth it to some. Cris S/N 719
