On all factory planes the gascolator is the lowest point for dirt and water

I believe you are referring to soft coiled aluminum tubing which should
be just fine AFAIK. The straight lengths sometimes look a little better
in places that are visible. I believe 6061 straight lengths were the
cheapest local stuff around my part of the world last time I looked.

It was one of the Metal Supermarket stores. Aircraft Spruce probably has
the 5052 and versatube in stock as well. I think they have dramatically
increased their stock in Brantford now.
