[rebel-builders] Another Downside of Purchasing an Oler Kit

Post by Ron Stahla » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:21 pm

Another problem you will run into is the size of the wing tank skins. They were chaanged in 96 from 20.25" x 38" to 21.25" x 39". My kit no is 399r.

Well, I should have known that things were going to smoothly. Today I started fitting the side panels FUS-24 to the tailcone. Hmmm...the holes don't line up. Turns out that MAM sent out a memo in 1993 saying that the side panels and FUS-25's in some kits had holes drilled incorrectly. My kit happened to be one of them. At that time they offered to replace them but the kit owner had to let them know. The prev owner of #207 didn't check.

So, I either have to buy new or make them. Unless someone has some extras lying around--a long shot I know.
It might be a long shot that MAM would have them as well. Oh well, I have a call in to them. If anyone has a stack of FUS-24's and 25's and wants to share, let me know! Craig

[rebel-builders] Another Downside of Purchasing an Oler Kit

I'm going off the top of my head here, but I'm pretty sure Fus-25 are the
flat triangle pieces, and fabricating them would be simple. I'd be happy
to trace them, including holes, and send that to you Craig. I think going
thicker is even one of the O-Mods, so you'd be making them anyway. IIRC,
Fus-24 has flanged top and bottom so would be a little tougher, but not
insane. Gas tank skins -- also flat stock, so an added cost, but at least
not complicated to make. (Not that I don't feel your pain)
