[rebel-builders] SR/Moose: Factory (manual) weight & balance

Post by kyle martin » Sun Feb 19, 2012 5:20 pm

Thats why we invented 31" bushwheels!! Man she'd look nice on a pair
of those. Make yor clearance go from nil to comfortable in a
heartbeat. Will also increase yor usefull load by emptying yor
pocketbook! ;)

Interesting to see how high the tail has to go to get to level attitude.
Also interesting to see how much prop clearance I have w/ the plane in level
attitude (~ 12" ).

Another addition to all this madness: what do you guys use for a means
of leveling the ac in a level flight attitude?

I was assuming door posts but thought there maybe another.

I think an accepted standard as to where to measure for the cg of a
sitting
person is to measure where the belt buckle is located.

Ted was trying to protect me from embarrassment over measurement errors
by
corresponding with me directly. Appreciate it Ted but not to worry. I
don't
mind fessing up if I made a boo-boo especially if it could lead to
someone
else using bad numbers. I still advocate everyone making your own
measurements. Differences do exist between different builders and pilot
preferences for seat position as mentioned below.

I went and re-measured today. Here's what I got this time:

Pilot - 20 inches
Passengers - 58 inches
Baggage - 81 inches
Rear Baggage - 118 inches
